The poll found that women are more likely than men to report visiting the dentist annually. Young adults ages 18 to 29 are the least likely to have visited the dentist but only marginally less so than those who are middle-aged or older. And when it comes to incomes, those who earn $120,000 or more annually are about twice as likely as those who earn less to visit the dentist. To see more details click here!

Straight Teeth while you Sleep

February 20th, 2014

Israeli orthodontist Dr. Orit Nadav and a team of 12 orthodontists, engineers, industrial designers and dental technicians spent eight years developing Aerodentis, an alternative to braces for patients of any age! Following the program, the control unit applies pulsating pneumatic force to reposition teeth gradually and comfortably via tiny silicon balloons inside the mouthpiece. The SD card records usage, so that the dental professional can track progress and compliance when the patient visits every few months, or adjust the treatment plan.

February 13th, 2014

As mentioned in our previous post – while dental spending down, the dental health crisis is on the rise. Due to the declining benefits for working adults, hospitals such as the Moses Cone Health Center are finding more and more dental related issues at the ER, with the majority of these ER visits, nearly 80%, were for treatable and preventable conditions. Don’t wait to for that issue to go from plaque to abscess – join Universal Dental Plan today and make an appointment with one of our Network Dentists.

February 11th, 2014

According to a news analysis from the ADA dental spending was nothing more than a dull roar in 2012. With employee sponsored dental benefits continuing to decline, working age adults are finding even less reason to visit a dentist. Can you blame them though? With the rising cost of just about everything – affordable quality dental care can be unattainable for those uninsured. That’s why at Universal Dental Plan we offer fixed, transparent pricing to help ease the cost of dental care! Learn more about our pricing by viewing our complete 2014 Fee Schedule

When we say metal mouth, we don’t mean a mouth full of braces. In fact, faculty members of the UW School of Dentistry discovered that when bound to metal ions, substances called titanates and peroxotitanates can actually fight off oral bacteria, reducing chances of infection or tooth decay. Watch out, soon titanates might start being used in bandages, skin gels, mouthwashes, and even toothpaste. 13,000 year old Tooth Decay

January 20th, 2014

British scientists just discovered the earliest sign of tooth decay, dating back more than 13,000 years ago in the skeletal remains of over 52 adults. Remains of over half of the intact teeth showed signs of tooth decay, cavities and even bad breath. Most of the oral disease experienced by these “Stone-Age hunter-gatherers” can be contributed to their high-carb diet of plants and nuts. With little oral hygiene, most of the diseased dealt with pain constantly.
Don’t let your teeth look like a smile from the Stone-Age and remember to floss and brush daily! For more dental facts, tips and news follow us on twitter or like us on Facebook!
