Regain Your Smile Campaign

Regain Your Smile Campaign!

Universal Dental Plan recognizes the lack of immediate care and has therefore created Regain your Smile Campaign, a campaign designed to provide financial assistance for lower income seniors in order to obtain the necessary dental services to prevent, reduce, and repair dental related problems.

Universal Dental Plan and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care have teamed up with Comfort Dental Care of Brookline to initiate first ever dental care campaign for seniors.

According to the ADA1, oral health is vital to total health, and most dental disease is preventable, dental problems usually increase exponentially with age, becoming more serious and more expensive. Unattractive teeth due to lack of dental care, bad breath from infection, and missing teeth are some of the most common dental problems elders face. Because dental insurance is usually a benefit of employment, most seniors (65+) do not have it. Those who are insured find that the costs covered are limited to preventative care and smaller less invasive procedures. Then those who meet income guidelines for government health programs find that dental assistance is in many cases limited. Paying for dental care out-of-pocket is difficult for elders on a fixed income as well as low priority compared to housing, food and healthcare.
